Life as Part of the Coop at big Dutchman
We work hard, but we know how to have fun
June 8, 2026
If you’ve been interested in working for Big Dutchman at our facility in Holland, Michigan, you may be wondering what that would look like. Our team works hard, but still knows how to have fun and create a good work environment. From having a good laugh together to weekly whiteboard get-to-know-you questions, we know how to make the workday more than just a workday.
Office Culture
Let’s start with the fun stuff! Time at our building may look a little different from other workplaces. Beyond a normal workload, we offer a variety of events and wellness activities to keep employees engaged and help them get to know their coworkers. A few examples of past activities include succulent planting, ornament making, step challenges, monthly blood pressure checks, a company-wide 5K, and more. We prioritize fostering community within the facility because we believe it makes us a stronger team and helps our employees look forward to the workday a little more.
The Day-to-Day
Big Dutchman’s approach supports a healthy work-life balance while still keeping teams connected. That connection shows up in the camaraderie between employees, with fun jokes, shared traditions, and everyday moments that brighten the workday.
Along with the fun, we work hard to meet our customers’ needs by providing support and innovative solutions that help farmers run more efficient, effective operations. Whether it’s a project, product development, or installation, we can pivot quickly to ensure that what needs to be done gets accomplished. This is the heart of what we do at Big Dutchman, no matter which department someone works in, and it guides our decision-making and prioritization to be the best support for farmers all across North America.
Community Involvement
Our experiences don’t stop at our facility; we take pride in our involvement within the West Michigan community and in taking action for future generations. This includes working with our local school districts to provide learning opportunities, problem-solving, and interactions with our employees and leadership team for the development of future talent.
Apart from working with our local school districts, our community involvement wouldn’t be complete without participating in the Tulip Time Festival parade! Every year, members of our team march in the parade, donning bright orange, traditional Dutch hats, and even a couple of inflatable chicken costumes. The highlight, though, is our iconic blue vintage truck, a favorite among the parade attendees.
