Big Dutchman USA hosts Sales Meeting for Latin American Agents

Big Dutchman Inc. invited its Latin America sales team to Holland in Michigan, USA for 5 days of inspiring exchange and learning. It was the first meeting of this kind since Mark Larson, Vice President of International Sales came to BD Inc. to build and further developed the network of Latin American poultry sales.
Bernd Meerpohl, Chairman of the Board of Management, flew in to Michigan to welcome the 21 agents from 14 countries and to share with them Big Dutchman’s interesting history as well as new exciting developments from Germany and its affiliates around the world.
During the 5-day bilingual conference, the agents, many of whom had never visited the United States before, learned about products, sales and shipping procedures and exchanged valuable experiences with each other and the US sales team. A tour of the Big Dutchman offices and warehouse as well as a little sight-seeing of Holland and dinners on Lake Michigan added many joyful and memorable moments to the well-rounded program of the meeting.

Second fully enriched colony house installed in the US
The second fully enriched colony house on a U.S. egg farm was part of a four house expansion for this Michigan egg producer.

Konos expanded by around 700,000 layers with the addition of three enrichable and one enriched colony houses.
The Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” The thousand-mile journey for the U.S. egg industry may be the conversion from traditional cage systems to enriched colony housing. The first step was taken by JS West with the placement of a flock in the company’s enriched colony barn in July 2010. Konos Inc. took the second step in fall 2011 by placing a flock of 120,000 hens in an enriched colony house, which was built as part of a 720,000-bird, four-house expansion.
