Field Service Technician (Full Time)
Big Dutchman, Inc. a world leader in poultry and pig equipment is seeking to expand our Pig department with a full time Field Service Technician position.
- Will install, inspect, service and repair equipment in the field while under general supervision of the Director of Pig Systems Sales.
- Perform the duties of site manager if required at multi-house installations. This includes inventory management and general project coordination with customer service.
- Maintains frequent contact with the main office to receive assignments and review service problems.
- Write service reports from findings in the field.
- Frequently contacts customers regarding any service needs.
- Refers more complex problems to the Director of Pig Systems Sales.
- Oversee installation process at various levels depending on our responsibility.
- Coordinate independent contract installation crews.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to develop and administer processes to better manage installations.
- Work with the Pig Department to reduce warranty expense while improving customer satisfaction.
- Conduct customer, Distributor or Installer training on system installation, operation and maintenance.
- Conduct follow-up visits to installations to ensure proper system function.
- Provide after sale technical support and service as required.
- Recommend improvements to product ensuring ease of installation, improved function and cost reduction.
Requirements
- 3-5 years service experience in livestock equipment.
- High level of technical aptitude including electrical and mechanical systems.
- Proficient and diplomatic with oral and written communication with customers.
- 80% travel required
- Willing to work irregular hours including weekends if required.
- General knowledge of common PC software including: MS Word, MS Excel and e-mail.
- Ability to capture and transmit digital pictures via e- mail.
- Candidate must live in one of these four states, IA, NE, MN, or SD.

Customer Service / Sales Coordinator
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with all internal departments to answer varying questions that the customer may have (technical, pricing, product availability, etc.) and relay the information via fax/phone/e-mail to the customer and salesperson
- Potential daily contact with sales personnel and customers
- Double checks terms and conditions of sale per project
- Review project scope, cost and schedule requirements and coordinate projects accordingly.
- Coordinate the development of proper parts lists with sales or engineering
- Divide and enter orders and sales dollars into appropriate sub orders.
- Coordinate change orders to project contract with estimating, sales and the customer.
- Coordinate submission of manuals and spare parts list to customer based on project scope and availability of materials.
- Investigates order shortage or damage reports from customers and correspond the findings to those involved
- Write service reports based on customer/salesperson/supervisor information and corresponds the findings to those involved
- Alert customer and salesperson of any order delays with the rescheduled information
- Coordinate resolution of punch list items needed to satisfy customer and procure final payment
- Be vigilant and proactive about maintaining and improving project margins where possible.
- Coordinate invoicing with accounting based on contract documents and/or shipments.
- Maintain precise, organized customer files and accounts
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient in Microsoft Window’s applications (Word, Excel)
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Have general technical aptitude and ability to project manage.
- Inside sales /customer service experience.
